Giving conservatism a bad name

I found the April 29 letter, "Obama is only making things worse," interesting because it contained the extreme right's latest rant, the not-so-veiled threat of "revolution."

I remember when the left wing of the Democratic party espoused revolution in the 1960s. They not only failed to ignite one, but they buried the Democratic Party and gave liberalism a bad name in the process. Now, moderate Republicans are being driven from their party, and conservatism is being given a bad name.

In a democracy, power is transferred from one party to another in a peaceful manner, regardless of how distasteful an individual might find the beliefs of the new majority. I would remind the revolutionists that free speech does not include the right to yell fire in a crowded theater.

Regarding the leaders of this so-called revolution, Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck, Bill O'Reilly, Sean Hannity, Matt Drudge, and Mark Levin, please note that none of these overblown gasbags, unlike me and my father before me, ever served a single day in the military. Don't expect these "patriots" to be in the front ranks of your revolution if the feces ever hits the fan.
